ROLE MODELS

As a person who dreams to leave an impact on people's lives through my work, I believe that every single human being has someone who impacted them to starting their journey.

I love film and these talented people are some of the reasons why.

Christopher Nolan

This talent is the biggest reason why I do film.

I've watched countless of movies before I saw even one of his works, but the first surge of energy I remember feeling is from "Inception." It was the first movie of his I've ever seen. And dear lord I fell in love with feeling the film left it.

At the moment I didn't care who made the film, only what other movies could make me feel the same thrill. And in my research I found myself back to him. I watched the rest of his films, and from that I sort to try write something similar.

I love his work for various reasons, his structure, characters, but my biggest reason is the puzzle he draws with his stories. I love getting lost in these puzzles and fascinated when I find the way out.

Satoshi Kon

RIP to this genius.

His type of style when it comes to storytelling is the closest to mine. He is a huge influence of my work.

Just like his, my stories tend to be far from reality cause I believe that even though reality can sometimes be chaotic or beautiful, the feeling of pain or happiness can be seen or expressed better in the mind. In the subconscious.

Paprika is my favorite movie in his list and one I look to when finding inspiration for my work.

I can never be Satoshi Kon, but his style is what I want to carry forward from his legacy.

Darren Aronofsky

To my eyes this man will always be amazing. And every time I hear his name I remember one movie: Mother!

I love how reality in that movie is mostly illogical or nonsensical but behind that is meaning left for the audience to interpret. I find this really amazing as a writer as this style of storytelling can be used to explore the mind which is a field I love.

Darren Aronofsky is master of his work and every time I want to start a project I go to his work for inspration.

Denis Villeneuve

If I had know his name since his directorial debut, I would've been there to watch his career to this day.

When I watched Enemy, his feature film, for the first time, his portrayal of surrealism in the film subconsciously gave birth to my love for stories that are sort of detached from reality.

Though surrealism is not a major in his films, another thing that keeps me around are the grey themes in his stories and most of all the atmosphere in his films.

I might forget the details in his films but the atmosphere in his films have forever remained with me, from my favorite film in his filmography, Arrival, to his recent film, Dune.
